CHRISTEENE'S Midnite Fukk Train is one of the fantastic records of the year. There's only one CHRISTEENE, as i-D Magazine said, “...a brand new breed of American celebrity” Tim London's review of the record finished so, "Such a glorious, fucked up multi-fruited jam, stuffed in a pizza pie crust of a mess of mind food." We're thrilled then, that CHRISTEENE has taken the time to talk us through Midnite Fukk Train, one track at a time.
ALPHABETS wuz inspired by and iz uh reinterpretation of Amanda Lear’s ‘Alphabet’. One uh my close friends and show producer Kamal Ackarie said,
“You should absolutely explore this shit for ur next album” an I of course will explore anyyyyythang involvin Mz Lear. In her song Amanda says “This is my alphabet, because time goes on and things are changing in my world. Here is a new alphabet for the children of my generation. Of course all these words have a meaning for me, but other generations might find a different mood to their world. My alphabet goes like this…”
I felt it a very important fukkn time too take Ms. Lear’s invitation an offer my ALPHABETZ to tha children of my fukkn messed up generation.
BEAUCOUP MOROCCO iz a call for all too abandon themselves to tha joys of self luv and sexual exploration…to release themselves from tha confines of self doubt an of insecurities that inhibit their ability to kick down tha screen door of fear and societal judgement, to “Slide that dik in some shoes and piss on all them taboos”.
GUTT IT It's a song bout huntin deep in tha downtown city realms ferr a fukkn older aged Daddy to take care of sum hard pressed sexual desires...an findin him. Tha patient windows of time when ur curatin exactly what u fukkn need.
WINSTON is a song I wrote after readin a book about a tubby lil man who had very very strange eccentricities like bathin twice uh day, wearin womens short skirt lace nighties, an walkin round naked with uh cigar while jugglin a whole lotta power.
I WANT IT ALL
I WANT IT ALL iz my deep cooked response during tha COVID lockdown dayz to tha steady and dangerous rise of extreme ignorance and hatred in thiz country we live in. im basically callin forth all who are poisoning the world to feed me with all they’ve fukkn got, willfully poisoning myself too snuff out tha cruelty tha shit and tha lies that are destroyin tha good folks an fighters
PIANO SONG is a deep, psychological journey through mah relationship with the creative forces around mee. With mah demons an my maker. its tha first song i have ever written and composed at the piano all by mahself. Its tha first time ive played and sung with an instrument all at once like a fool. it brings me great joy an i want moore moore moore of all that.
LO PAID RUNWAY MODEL
LO PAID RUNWAY MODEL is about the dark loneliness of lockdown, about people never answering their phones, about letting go of those who have drifted, about stolen stank and lost dimes that once used to call you when you needed real love an intimacy. i composed them horns an conducted mah brilliant sax players an Cole in person in tha recordin studio an it was pure heaven. ive never recorded in a uh full on studio til now an that changed tha fukkn game ferr mee forever.
FIX MY DIK
FIX MY DIK is tha first wurst song i ever wrote back in 2009. i wanted to honor it an push it through tha newness and majesty of tha Fukkn Band. I wanted ta breathe uh new lifeforce into its stank soul as we travel through this very estrangé world we are inhabitin right now. i mean…it izzzzz tha first born. Polish tha turd!

I like to look at things while listening to things I am not looking at. But doesn't everyone.

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]
If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
