"...they are some of the more melodic Museumgoer material in a while, despite being barely songs." - Museumgoer
Through 23 releases now, each full of charm and constant surprise, each with their unique identity, the Museumgoer has been an enduring artist for Outsideleft. Museumgoer 23 is sublimely brief, blink with your ears and you'll miss it and it will be gone. But it's a delight. An excellent addition to the canon, although as ever we wait for the completist vinyl junkie LP box set. After #25 maybe, Musey? And when that finally comes does it just get a spot in a gallery where such high art belongs?
Rather than me trying to explain, you should try to listen. I am passing you over to Museumgoer's own project notes that are published alongside the release on the Bandcamp page where you can acquire it, and believe me when I mention that you should, right here→
THERE'S SUNSHINE
This phrase could be an exaltation of the morning, a motto for a generally rosy existential outlook, or an an example offered as a reason to go on, but in this case, it is what I say every time I pull up to my daughter's apartment and her neighbor Sunshine is outside, smoking a cigarette by her fire pit.

SINCERELY JLY
I was into this oblong beat I'd made and wanted some sort of vocals. I thought about feeding it in to and AI to see what it gave me, but then I remembered I hate AI so I just opened my spam folder and copied the text out of the latest junk message into a text to speech and now, in writing this, am unsure if I won the fight or not.

ALMOST SOME BARELY
The songs for this Museumgoer release were born out of the fact that I moved my Rhodes piano home to have something to play at night and wanted to see what I could do without the resources of my studio, using only the piano, an electric guitar and the built in effects of my software. Though they are very loopy, no bridge kinda pieces, I feel they are some of the more melodic Museumgoer material in a while, despite being barely songs.

I'M WALKING HERE
The morning after I made this song, I listened to it while walking to get coffee and it felt idle and urgent at once, perfect for a stroll of relative idle privilege yet also headstrong enough to clear the path before me.

HELP OUTSIDELEFT

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]

WRITE FOR OUTSIDELEFT

If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
