In light of the new, extensive, Cherry Red retrospective, 'chrome dawns' the OL Fire Engines Week feels... Just right. So how about a little video introduction? Just right too. In his recent piece about legendary and lost post punk band Rema-Rema, Alan Rider found nothing but a tiny fragmented online footprint. From the early 80s, The Fire Engines material that can be found online is often equally scratchy and unkempt. Maybe all music in the future will be disregarded as media codecs change and the no longer upscalable resolution deemed unbroadcastable. Where will we be then? Well I know where I’ll be. Meanwhile, by way of introduction, five Fire Engines videos that show the band smouldering, crackling and wholly burning. This is some of the most explosive sounds short of the MC5 that pop music has ever made. I-n-c-e-n-d-i-a-r-y, some people might have it.
