This week we're celebrating the release of The Armoires fourth LP, Octoberland, and to mark the occasion, it’s The Armoires Week in Outsideleft, all week!
The Southern California based indiepop quintet features songwriting partners Christina Bulbenko on vocals/keyboards and Rex Broome on guitar/vocals; bass and drums are kept under control by Clifford Ulrich and John M. Borack, respectively. Meanwhile, Larysa Bulbenko’s viola and the electric 12-string stylings round out a sound that can veer through the gamut from baroque pop to retrofitted psychedelia. Prepare to be bewitched by a kaleidoscope of sound.
The eleven tracks on Octoberland were produced by Michael Simmons who just does this so well, an arch-poptician himself, Mike is bandleader with The Armoires labelmates, Sparkle*jets UK, who we met earlier this year, right here.Alongside The Armoires, as founders of one of California’s enduring indie labels, with a relelntless release schedule, Big Stir records, it’s easy to wonder when Christina and Rex sleep! Here’s what we have planned for the week: Tomorrow John Robinson will publish his review Octoberland. On Wednesday, we’ll feature an interview with the band. Thursday… It’s the self-penned Octoberland Track by Track, while Friday see’s the band talk us through the extensive art development process that informed their visually stunning design choices for the album and their upcoming shows. We might not be finished there, we’re still trying to get Christina to take us on an Armoires inspired shopping trip… But we’ll see. Either way… It’s all Armoires all week in Outsideleft.
