Baker's Xmas Dozen #3:
CARTER USM
Flying Decisively
"I went through my Bailey phase and this is a recreation of a Bailey image, of an actor on Primrose Hill. I’d known Jim Bob and Fruitbat for some time. They were pretty much unknown at that point - this was just prior to the first release of Sheriff Fat Man. I also drove all the way down to The Railway Tavern in Winchester where they were playing to two men and a dog. Then it blew up for them. Their gigs were a phenomenon. They played the Town and Country one night - the ceiling blew off! Fruitbat, bless him, had to take a run and a flying leap. Fruitbat flew! It’s about the decisive moment thing. The Cartier-Bresson decisive moment. You learn when to press the shutter."
