It's finally here, Museumgoer 24. The silent bard of Baton Rouge regales us with this, the 24th EP release from, Museumgoer. That is an incredible hell of an amount of consistently great musical entertainment. I don't want to sully the experience in any way by suggesting this is what music and art should sound like if they shacked up, above a garage, behind a store. But something quite delicately measured like this, for sure. It really does remind me of gentlest of Tom Waits' Rain Dogs. Or sunny, Money Mark. Of the four tracks that make up 24, the longest ,weighing in at 2:06, Anyone Know What Kind of Skull This Is? has everything. Decision to Leave The Blue Store Drive-Thru Line in Dub has the longest title. For the rest of the details, over to Museumgoer...

to me
This one almost didn't come out and for a moment meant the end of Museumgoer because I couldn't find my cover template Photoshop file, but I came across one on a thumb drive. Saved once again by haphazard backups. Also with our recent super rare snow event, I had occasion to wear that hat you sent me, which reminded me I had this one sitting in the queue for 6 months. It was like the very climate conspired to keep the project going.
Museumgoer 24
This release was recorded back in fall 2024 and I'm not sure why I sat on it for so long. Maybe I was waiting for the right cover photo. Also, just so I have it saved somewhere: the Museumgoer title font is Bell MT 75pt
Anyone Know What Kind of Skull This is?
The question I posted to social media after stepping barefoot on a tiny skull in my studio. It seemed to be for a mouse, though I've never seen one in there. It might have fallen out of one of the vintage instruments being jostled around or repaired. The Farfisa has played a little different lately, so maybe it was a key component.
Decision to Leave the Blue Store Drive-Thru Lane in Dub
Blue Store is an excellent local fried chicken chain where just entering the drive-thru places you on a different, less urgent wavelength. One day I was already late for something and they were even less urgent than normal, so I made a dubious decision to lean into meeting obligations. This is a reminder to not do that.
Dial Tone Lover
I read that Alex Chilton would tune his guitar to the dial tone on a pay phone before a gig. That is the coolest move.
Pork Meat Pie
The menu at Blue Store is exhaustive despite the fact most everyone just gets chicken wings. I considered the pork meat pie in the limbo of their drive-through long enough to backpedal back into a chicken order. This is how it works in Purgatory, I imagine.
