I absolutely loved the poetic lyrics, executed with such a powerful emotional charge

Venom is a heavy album full of infectious energy that leaves you dying for more! This album features 11 tracks, but I'll just talk about a handful of my favourites.

The title track 'Venom'- explores the shedding of the old self and becoming stronger but still wrestling with the venom afflicted by the other person. It’s reminded me of moving forward but limping from the scars inflicted by the other person.

'Should Have Known Better' is involved. What does a betrayal do to our character? This song has a powerful bridge! The roaring vocals, the gritty guitars and the pounding kicks of the drums created such an immense and exhilarating energy that took my breath away!

The beautifully poetic lyrics of 'What We Used To Be' offers the vivid imagery and heart-wrenching emotion of the aftermath of a broken relationship. My favourite lines were So cold the air, so dark the night. I think I’ve lost my guiding light.

For me the best track on the LP is 'Dirt On My Name (feat. Mirza Radonica)'. I loved how the song delved into the frustrating nature of someone tearing you down, when they have no clue about who you are. The song depicts a fascinating imagery of the inner demons and the weight people carry; the character standing tall despite what comes their way. You don't always really know what someone is carrying and wrestling with unless you are them.

I really enjoyed with 'Unburn'. This song explores the immense power words can do and the permanent damage they can do and there’s no turning back.

'I’d Rather Be Dead'- Had amazing instrumentation of synthesisers combined with the heavy growling of the guitars and hard kicks of the drums. It evoked a powerful emotional charge, a desperate grasp on to a straining relationship. This song really captures the essence of love, trying to work things out and how intertwined you can be with someone’s soul, so much that you don’t want a life without them.

Overall, Venom is an absolutely stunning album from Enemy Inside. It keeps you on your feet with infectious rhythms and heavy melodies that keep you hooked. I absolutely loved the poetic lyrics, executed with such a powerful emotional charge that speaks to the souls of the listeners.

HELP OUTSIDELEFT

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]

WRITE FOR OUTSIDELEFT

If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
