ANOTHER MESSAGE OF LOVE
It It appears to me that the Earth is still rotating
Though societies aren’t advancing – they’re gravitating
The song remains the same as I sang a year ago
Do we have tolerance and harmony? Of course, it’s a ‘No’
Another year gone, wartime peace treaties are failing
Back in Rome, the elderly Pontiff Francis sadly ailing
One last wave on Sunday from St Peter’s Square
And next year, a different one in the Papal chair
Singers and players ask if their songs have any worth
Beatle George sang: “Give me Love, Give me Peace on Earth”
Why is our planet still ruled by the Hawk and not the Dove?
When even the sassy Pretenders sang their “Message of Love”
The man-baby leader of America is both loved and despised
As governments and nations become ever more polarised
Tariffs disruptive and destructive, his spiralling Trade War
Economists scratch their heads, not knowing what it’s all for
Food, fuel and energy being globally weaponised
Sudan and Ukraine still cruelly deadlocked and paralysed
Bob Dylan’s timeless lines from 1963 ring so true:
“There's one thing I know, though I'm younger than you -
That even Jesus would never forgive what you do””
