Jackie Stein - The Battle of Social Media

THE BATTLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA!

Go forth young soldiers!
For your verbal sparring with strangers
I’ve retired myself from the dizzy whirl of your world
Leaving the noise and the bustle far behind

So, draw your mighty pen swords high!
Enjoy your never-ending race of suppression
The pursuit of aggression your ‘golden quest’
The ‘social’ contest wears me down and shatters my spirit
Like a harsh heavy knock on an old wooden door
So, no more!

I look down on the panoramic battlefield that lays before me
Seeking you out, aching to tell you to set forth and flee
From your moment of glory in a never-ending story
I shield you with the golden sunlight of my love
Protect you with soft, silvery moonlit dreams

For my war is over, you see
I’m not competing in senseless battles anymore
I’m retiring to the majestic hills you see above you
Enjoying the peace and solitude of Mother Nature
And the beauty of simple, warm hearts and gentle souls

For now, it’s your choice
Where you put the strength of your voice…
Yet, when the time comes
As it will come…
When your spirit feels weary
And your quest now seems dreary….
I will welcome you with back with open arms
Back home ….
Back where your heart will be strong
And where you will truly belong…

HELP OUTSIDELEFT

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]

WRITE FOR OUTSIDELEFT

If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
